Alone in the Dark: Haunted House Launch Campaign

HypeRate partnered with THQ Nordic for a truly terrifying launch campaign. Influencers faced their worst fears in a real haunted house experience inspired by the iconic Alone in the Dark game. We tracked their fear in real time and created data-driven visuals, empowering their content in the most relatable way.

Project Details:

  • Client: THQ Nordic, publisher of the iconic survival horror franchise Alone in the Dark.
  • The Challenge: Collecting heart rate data offline and visualising them in real-time for post production.
  • Solution:
    • HypeRate conceptualized and designed a way to integrate real-time heart-rate data into post-production.
    • We provided hardware, software, and on-site support for seamless data collection during the haunted house experience.
    • Influencers were outfitted with heart rate monitors for over 50 runs, their data mirroring the most terrifying moments in real time.
    • Our custom app and analysis powered data-driven ECG heart rate animations in Adobe After Effects to seamlessly integrate into the post production workflow of creators.

  • A Campaign powered by emotions: Influencers shared their most fearful moments of their experience with their communities and horror fans, reaching millions of viewers.
    Viral Game Launch: HypeRate helped position the game launch with authentic and measured emotions, building excitement and anticipation for fans to experience the most iconic and fearful moments in the game themselves.
